Maddie Anderson, is a 17yr old student at Victory Lutheran College. She was just a little girl when her father handed her a camera for the very first time, a ‘hand-me-down’ Sony as he’d purchased a new camera to strengthen his own photography pursuits and at 11 years young Maddie awoke to what she recalls as her very first passions for the art. It quickly spiralled into a stack of awards, the first of which was as a Year 7 student taking out first place in the Victory Lutheran College Art Competition for a series of landscape photography. “I remember my parents being really proud, and I was really shocked,” she laughs.
She then went on to win the award within her school each year and upon realising her talent, has been encouraged to enter larger competitions within our region, and has come out successful. “My biggest awards so far would be a finalist at the Red-Carpet Youth Awards for our community in 2015 & 2016 I placed 2nd also highly commended in the Environment Photographic Competition in Wangaratta in 2015 & 2016 where my images were among 200 others in our region”.
