For those who believe in a higher power you would know the feeling. Walking in faith can be like walking in the dark, arms out in front of you bumping into things, trying to find your way until you reach your destination. There is a sigh of relief when you get there, knowing all along there was a safe, clear path you just couldn’t see it clearly.
David worked in Defense as a Training Manager for a Registered Training Organization for quite some time. He felt his purpose was to one day be involved in a ministry of some sort. David was part of the River Community Church Leadership for four years and had a strong belief there was more to his life.
After joining the Church and with much prayer, the vision became clear to Senior Pastor Graeme Van Brummelen, a café was to be created. After waiting for someone to take the role of Café Manager, the group prayed for someone to respond to the calling.
“At one of the meetings, our Pastor said ‘don’t disregard that the person could come within’” David said.
“That night I drove home and was told by God, ‘it’s you.’ I laughed and said ‘that’s funny – I don’t do cafés. I don’t do hospitality’.”
It was on the causeway between Albury and Wodonga when David had his moment in faith and God kept confirming his mission. “My life started to change and doors kept closing, I knew it was the end of an era. I took some leave, did some soul searching and took time to think. I thought, ‘okay, I will do it – if that’s what is meant to happen’.”
