Breathing new life into an historic Rutherglen vineyard that was once the largest state-of-the-art wine producing complex in the Southern Hemisphere, has been a family affair for Eliza, Nicholas and Angela Brown. The ambitious project involves restoring Mount Ophir Estate that was established in 1891 as a working farm, vineyard and winery.

Eliza, partner Denis Lucey, brother Nicholas, sister Angela and families have all worked on the project over the past two years as well as run All Saints Estate and St Leonards. The extensive restoration includes unique luxury accommodation, a private event venue and the re- establishment of the Mount Ophir Estate wine brand.

“It’s been intensive but to see it all coming together is very satisfying and exciting,” Eliza says. “You could say we love a challenge and this is certainly challenging.” But Eliza and her siblings are used to challenges, it’s been 13 years since the sudden loss of their father, Peter that saw Eliza take over as CEO of All Saints Estate supported by Nicholas and Angela.
